Residents get on their bikes at the Big Bike Day
Many local residents got on their bikes at the HWCP organised Big Bike Day at the end of August.
Highlights of the day included a pedal-powered carousel from Ape Project; a led-bike ride by A Ride in the Park; bike repairs by Dr Bike and a bike swap.
Local children also enjoyed trying out the all-ability bikes brought along by A Ride in The Park CIC.
All the organisations who came along and gave up their time seemed pleased with the turnout in such patchy weather (the rain didn’t seem to dampen enthusiasm). Around 60 residents came along, including some groups of children who stayed for more than three hours. Plus the local Paisey family who turned up with their home-made stunt bikes.
The police were busy security registering bicycles all day and as ever Dr Bike was kept busy all day making repairs to bikes to help keep local people safe and on their bikes.
The event was organised by HWCP’s Carrie Ellis with assistance from Bristol City Council’s Amanda Edmondson.
We would like to thank:
